Topic/Skill: Idioms

Feedback provided to the tutee: I covered common idioms and expressions, many of which he did not know. I also gave him a clip from YouTube of these idioms being used in films. First I asked him what I thought it meant, he would think of what comes to mind literally. Then we read sentences where they are used as an example, and I would ask him to give me his own example in a sentence and situation. 

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I learned that it is genuinely difficult to try to guess the meaning of an expression and not all of them will make sense to their figurative meaning.

I had some questions and conversation topics and a diagnostic prepared to know her level better and assess her strengths and weaknesses.

Date/Time: November 3, 2023 Location: Student Union Topic/Skill: Scenario - Speaking Feedback provided to the tutee: In the beginning, I opened up a conversation about food, like traditional food, preferences, etc. Then I taught a couple of things like greetings, present simple tense, and the auxiliary "would." We also focused on some vocabulary relating to food before ending with a role-play play of ordering some food at Starbucks.
