Location: CIES building
Topic/Skill: Narrating/Spontaneous speech
Feedback provided to the tutee: I started the lesson with a short silent film video on YouTube. I gave a bit of an example so he could imitate me and we tried doing this in the present tense and the past continuous. While he narrated, I wrote down grammar mistakes but also moments where he could not speak as opportunities for feedback. I was able to provide a lot of new vocabulary words or better word choices on top of pronunciation and grammar feedback.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I learned with this exercise that learners sometimes when a learner misses a word or can't come up with the appropriate word, it doesn't mean they don't know it. I also learned to not assume they know some words you believe to be frequent lower level just because they are in a fluent state and know a lot.
