Feedback provided to tutee: My tutee had asked for my help on a research paper assignment which consisted on reading an article and listening to a YouTube video about Artificial Intelligence. As we watched the YouTube video, I would pause it every couples of minutes to make sure she was understanding what was being said, if she didn't we would play it back until she understood the overall idea and if needed, I would explain in further detail. After, She read an article on the same topic and I mainly only corrected her pronunciation and explained any new vocab she didn't understand/know. I also gave her some tips on how to organize her thoughts and structure her sentences to get her point across more clearly.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: Asking if the student are understanding what they are listening to or doing throughout the lesson is a great way to check if they're struggling or not. During the lesson, I would ask my tutee to summarize or repeat back to me what she heard, if she couldn't or told me she didn't understand, we would repeat it until she got the general idea. Patience and reassurance goes a long way with students.
