Topic/Skill: How to write a lecture summary (listened to a lecture video)
Teacher presentation: The instructor started class going over the agenda to get students familiar with the lesson. The instructor went over notes with students and gave them tips on how to write a lecture summary and a lesson summary to help them get ready for college. The students were then shown a lecture video.
Classroom Management: Teacher would ask students questions to get them to participate in the lecture. After playing the the lecture, the instructor would give students extra time to finish their activities if it was needed. Always asked students for reassurance if they understood the lecture and what she was explaining, if not she would go over the issue carefully to explain it in a way students can understand.
Materials: YouTube, whiteboard, handout
Student Participation: Students participated in a group activity after listening to the lecture video. They would go up to the whiteboard and write they key words they heard from the lecture.
Feedback Provided: Instructor goes over notes with students, gives them tips on how to do the assignment/activities and gives them extra time to finish their work if needed. Always provides positive feedback through her comments and explains a certain topic or problem a student has.
Lessons on teaching learned: To create a comfortable environment through making jokes, always laughing and smiling. To always ask for reassurance from students to make sure they are keeping up with the lesson and understand what they’re being taught.
