Date/Time: September 13th, 2023. 12 PM-1 PM
Tutee: Sujin Yang
Location: Student Union
Topic/Skill: Introductions
Feedback
provided to tutee: While engaging in introductory conversation, I administered both implicit and explicit corrective feedback when appropriate, but tried not to do it too much as to not discourage the student from speaking.
Lesson(s)
about tutoring and/or tutee: This session, I learned that ESL students who are anything above a beginner level (I only say this because I have noticed that lower level students tend to be more shy at first) will jump at the opportunity to speak English and apply the knowledge they have learned in real life situations and contexts. In regards to tutoring, I have learned that I need to be more assertive when it comes to assigning different time slots to certain skill practices, in order to provide the tutee with a balanced instruction.
