Date/Time: September 13th, 2023. 2:00 PM-2:50 PM

Topic/Skill: Olivia James's Listening Course, Group 3. Listening and communicative skills

Teacher Presentation: The teacher introduced an exam to the students, along with modeling and presenting the RASA method through vocal explanation and a video.

Classroom Management: The teacher would vocalize out loud everything she was doing. When addressing students, she would project her voice and maintain eye contact in order to be heard and understood.

Materials: White board, projector, computer, internet connection, video-playing site

Student Participation: The students got into pairs and practiced using the RASA method of communication in the context of certain prompts. Students would switch back and forth in between being the speaker and being the listener, since both were equally as important to the successful completion of the exercise.

Feedback Provided: The teacher gave oral feedback to the student pairs during and after their conversation, as well as some praise and encouragement to all attempts at vocal communication.

Lesson(s) on teaching you learned:When it comes to teaching intermediate students, it can be beneficial to use a deductive approach when introducing new topics in a specific subject that most students may be struggling in (since many are more likely to have a higher vocabulary and grammar knowledge than listening and speaking skills). I also learned that pairing up students may be the best approach when it comes to listening practice, since it allows for better communicative listening and reciprocation form the other party.
