I attended Ryan Fleming’s Monday 9/25 class on speaking. The beginning of the lesson was spent playing Go Fish, which Ryan explained is a good game to play because it causes you to ask a lot of questions. Ryan teaches with a lot of personality in his body language especially. Before we played the game he pointed to images of the face cards on the board and asked what each meant. That way during the game they could be identified. He went through the instructions to the game very slowly, pointing to the words on the board as he was saying them. He stopped during the game to make corrections. For example, one of the students asked “do you have any six.” He tried to get them to say “do you have any sixes?” Then I helped students by providing answers to some of their questions related to another assignment, which were chosen from a larger list of predetermined questions.
