Abigail Torres CO Blog #4 - Dr. Angel Rios
Date/Time: September 14th; 11am - 11:50am
Topic/Skill: Reading/Vocab
Teacher Presentation: The teacher started the class with a conversation and reviewed a few answers from the previous worksheet.
Classroom Management: The teacher explained every word that was highlighted in yellow from an article that had a double meaning.
Materials: Worksheet/Adobe Acrobat Pro DC
Student Participation: students gave their own comments/examples about the meaning of each word.
Feedback Provided: The teacher gave feedback on important words. For example, "write-off" in the context of the article means "dismissal" and corrected the student's examples if they were not correct. He also gave real-life scenarios of when a phrase or a word would be effectively used.
Lesson(s) on teaching you learned: It is important to highlight pronunciation and all meanings of words. Cultural slang can affect the way a non-English speaker interprets things, or how they socialize outside of the classroom.
